Disaster Relief

This is basically a sub-topic from last Saturday. As we all know, I got my biotech tee on Saturday and sent it back the same day. Now... complications arise. Apparently, it's not enough that the bottom hem was not sewn properly, it also un-dyes when washed. So... now we have a black shirt that's orange.

Anyhow... that's that but I'm not handling it so it's not my problem I guess. The relief part of this post happens to be the liason's job.

Tomorrow, we're going on a field-trip. An excursion to the hospital. Should be fun. We're visiting the pathology lab. Maybe we'll all come down with some rare strain of toe-rot or something. Hehe.

Playing Professor

Today was fun. We, that is, my classmates and I, conducted a science camp held for schools within the Bukit Bendera constituency. 'Twas a lotta hard work but it was fun. Part of what I did... lecture to pupils about gram staining of bacteria. Hehe... I enjoyed that... handing out facts, fielding questions and so on. Interesting point of view. From the teacher's perspective and not, as always, from the student's. :-)

Also... we got our Biotech T-shirts today. Wow... it was comfortable... but.... defects... The bottom hem was not done properly and they missed the skirting on the sleeves. Haih... wear it for a day... then have to send it back for touch-ups. What kind of unprofessional workmanship is this?

Yesterday was a very busy day. The whole day was spent... bio test... then preparation for the camp. Clarissa's party was supposed to start at 6... but we got there at 8... sorry Clarissa!! Guess I over-gauged the word 'party'. Turned out to be a pajama party instead... haih... laughing at me... as usual.

Wish Me Luck

Tomorrow is the last of the first tests. MCB 122... Molecular and Cell Biology 2... A bit nervous right now... since I'm blogging when I should be studying... well... breaks are a must and what better way to take a break than to let out some of it on the net... hehe.

Gotta go. Back to the grind.

Forgotten

Hehe... me and my memory. Totally forgot to mention my hectic Saturday.
Anyhoo... Saturaday. Went to college, supposedly to help with lab work, but ended up doing what I always do... running around like a rabbit snapping photos. Hehe. It's what I know I guess. Anyway, after that... went out with Chin Lin, Benjamin,Patricia and so on. The plan was to make the Biotech T-shirts as well as the name tags. Got a big headache with the t-shirts. One printer couldn't do it in time. The other one... well... in the end we went with the other one. Colour scheming... haih... another big issue. I liked the green and white (of course... being a Xaverian and all). They wanted blue... light blue and white... well... I thought it looked like a girl's shirt. In the end... at the shirt maker's... they couldn't do any of them.... so ended up black and orange. Oh well... I suppose... but then it seems like some of them weren't really happy about that. Big headache there.

Besides that, went shoe shopping with them. Shopping for Pat's shoes that is... hehe... After all of the ruckus, went to Gurney to watch You Me & Dupree... Quite nice, that show. Started a bit slow... but I loved the middle bit. Not a big fan of the ending though.

That was that... the whole day out of the house. No rest for the wicked.

Trials and Tribulations

The week snuck up on me.
Promises of calm and rest and peace... all dashed by the realisation that once again, I'm faced with a test week. Not only a test week, but two tests... and three lab reports to hand in on Friday. After that... I have to emcee on Saturday... as well as do a Bio lab presentation. My God... if this isn't a week in Hell... I don't know what is. Still I'm keeping upbeat. Knowing that I thrive on pressure. Who knows, I may just survive after all.

Nuclear storm tomorrow. Chemistry test. Wish me Luck!

Week To Date

Wow... it has been quite a while since I posted anything. I had not thought that it was so long...

Anyway, I'm posting again today. Well... it's been a busy week. Lab sessions and reports and so on... The fun part though... we got to do Microbiology... cultivating and studying bacteria. Klutz that I am... I broke a few of the agar beds.... It was fun though... streaking the bacteria onto the plates and playing with antiseptic solutions. The downside of labs (there always is a downside, isn't there? I mean... when you say that every cloud has a silver lining... you also mean that the silver lining has the cloud) is that we have to prepare lab reports. On Tuesday night... I had to finish 21 drawings of cells... and yesterday... another lab report... Thankfully, today's report will be short.

Oh yeah.... On Tuesday... saw Jee Mee off... Kinda ate into my lab report time... which was probably why it took so long to finish but that was okay... I mean... it's not everyday that you see a friend off to study in UK. Anyhow... so Bon Voyage Jee Mee... and good luck.

Ah... Bliss

I haven't been very chatty lately... have I? It's been a long week. The semester's just beginning and here I am... already behind time and trying to cope. Couldn't even get enough sleep. This morning... woke up and felt like a piece of dead wood. It's a new semester... with all new subjects and so on... and the teachers are already laying it into us. I have 3 lab reports to finish over the weekend. Three!! That didn't happen... even in last semester... as I recall.

I can feel my fingers going numb...

Need to sleep...

Going to go take a... ...

Confusion

Sometimes.... I wish the world could be simple... that there's nothing that can confuse you or clutter up your mind and perceptions. Sadly, that can never be the case.

Entry to university is harder than I thought. Aside from the marks quota... tons of other things that I have to worry about. Accommodation, books, people, courses, and so on... and it doesn't help when my dad jumps on me with yet another of his convoluted, crazy ideas that never seem to make sense to me. It's just a bit bewildering.

But... I guess it's just another challenge that life throws to us. Everyone goes through this I think. And so... I will... if I must.

Just a bit confusing now. Maybe it'll be clearer in the morning.

New Beginnings

Well... the start of another semester... my final here... I hope...

Should have an easier time of it... considering that I have only two subjects to juggle this semester. First class of the semester... Chem Lab... coming up in... oh... about 2 hours.

I wonder what new developments will arise this semester. Or will everything be just like last semester. I'm inclined to think not. Knowing that time moves on and change happens... so this semester should be different from the previous. I'm counting on it. It looks promising enough.

Anyhow... I suppose I'm going to prepare now.
Let us descend unto the breach!

Rush Hour

So... today I rushed down to Kuala Lumpur. I say rushed because it was literally a rush. The trip was just planned out yesterday because I saw an advertisment about the University of Adelaide Open Day in KL today. So... we rushed.

The plan was to wake up at 5.00 a.m. and reach there by 10. In actual fact... we woke at 5.30 and reached there at 11.30... hehe... what can I say... delays. Missed one talk but that didn't seem like much. The information gathering was invaluable. I can safely say that I knew only about 30% of all that I learned today. Luckily I got the chance to go down today. I might never had had this opportunity to get all my questions answered. We were actually so busy that we only had 11 minutes for lunch. A hastily grabbed sandwich from the lobby had to suffice for a while. RM 10 for a sandwich... no complaints though... the sandwich was excellent... albeit less than satisfying... if only the portion was larger. Anyhow... we stayed there until 4 p.m. wearing out all the Professors and so on. Hehe.

After that had about half an hour in KLCC... and walked around just to relax. Then it was time to head home already... Man... time flies doesn't it?

Driving around KL was no mean feat though. I got lost at least three times trying to navigate the streets... they're just so crooked and wind-y and the road names weren't properly labled... so... hehe.

On the way home... stopped at the Tapah rest stop for dinner. I was disappointed though. Was looking forward to having a few doughnuts from Dunkin' Doughnuts there. So happens... they ran out...haih... there's always next time I guess... and next time... maybe I'll stock up before leaving KL. Hehe.

And so... that brings me to now...tired... footsore... doughnut deprived...

I think I'll turn in... maybe things will look less bleak tomorrow.

How Time Flies

My... my... the end of the hols is almost here... It all looked so far away from when the last semester just ended. Hehe... can't wait to be going back to school. The past few days have been eventful. It's only that I was too lazy to chronicle them here... hehe.

Anyhow... so let's begin with yesterday morning... I went to INTI for enrolment... signed up for the next semester... then found out a few things. Things such as I need a 75% average to progress to Adelaide in February (early admission, otherwise I need 65% in July). Also that I already have a 79.18% average for the last semester... I just need to keep it up. :-) Not as easy as it sounds I think.

Then... in the afternoon... went with Kee Hong to school. Did some things there... hehe... threw a fake tantrum... but it worked... got him to do something at least. :-)

Okay... fast forward to today... I collected my new specs today. Yippee... I can see again!!

Later... my family went to watch Monster House. Excellent show! Very unique storyline . Well worth a watch. That was that...oh... besides the fact that I ran into Christopher at Tesco... but that was a really minor short thing. Hehe.

Birthdays

Years come and years go... they're everchanging...

There are but few constants in every year... one of them is birthdays and today happens to be one of those special days... The birthday of our country...

Coincidentally (or not, since it happens every year), yesterday happened to be the birthday of one of my friends... Matthew Gooi.

So... let's give a warm joint Happy Birthday wish to both of them. Hehe.
